Job summary

Baird, a multi-office geotechnical engineering practice, seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead marine, nearshore, and hydraulic infrastructure projects in Florida and beyond.

You will mentor junior engineers, oversee data campaigns, prepare scopes and reports, and collaborate across offices to deliver design and construction support from conception to completion. A Ph.D. is preferred; P.E. license required; travel as needed; strong English communication.

Qualifications

• M.Sc./M.Eng. in Geotechnical Engineering (Ph.D. preferred).
• 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience for marine/coastal/hydraulic infrastructure projects.
• P.E. or P.Eng. registration required (multi-state P.E. a plus).
• Expertise in soil and rock mechanics, earthquake engineering, groundwater hydrology, and soil-structure interaction.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software such as gINT, APILE, LPILE, PYWALL, GeoStudio, PLAXIS, FLAC, Slide, and Settle3.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME within multi-disciplinary, geographically distributed project teams.
• Provide geotechnical engineering and design support for marine, coastal, and hydraulic infrastructure projects.
• Develop, manage, and supervise geotechnical data acquisition campaigns.
• Prepare and review geotechnical work scopes, proposals, and engineering reports.
• Conduct QA reviews of historical reports for siting ports and marine terminals.
• Assist in developing plans and specifications.
• Oversee project delivery from conception to completion.
• Mentor and provide technical oversight for junior and mid-level engineers.
• Collaborate across multiple offices and time zones.
• Participate in proposal preparation and client presentations.
