Job summary

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) seeks a geotechnical engineer to coordinate and supervise statewide investigations, provide engineering expertise, and develop design methodologies under general supervision.

You will oversee geotechnical aspects of consultant projects, manage on-call contracts, and ensure design recommendations are implemented with multidisciplinary teams. Extensive travel statewide is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Licenses as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
• Six years of experience in geotechnical engineering.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise statewide geotechnical investigations.
• Provide geotechnical engineering expertise, support, and design methodology.
• Provide recommendations for correcting geotechnical problems.
• Oversee geotechnical portions of consultant-designed projects; approve on-call geotechnical contracts and review invoices.
• Coordinate implementation of design recommendations with department personnel and consultants.
• Direct geotechnical investigations for compressible foundations, slides, and other issues, including subsurface exploration, laboratory testing, engineering analyses, and report preparation.
