Job summary

Terracon is seeking a senior geotechnical engineer to lead technical work, safety, and client communications in Virginia. The role involves directing field investigations, analyses, and reporting while mentoring junior staff.

The candidate will contribute to project planning, risk management, and quality assurance, with opportunities in marketing and business development. PE licensure in Virginia is required or imminent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia required.
• 8-11 years of experience preferred.
• Master's degree in Engineering preferred, but not required.
• A valid driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety efforts for team and ensure safety rules followed; promote pre-task planning.
• Ensure continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects.
• Provide consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.
• Understand project-related risk and protect the Company; know risk policies.
• Provide senior technical direction for routine and complex projects.
• Conceptualize initial design/investigative approach for major project phases.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate engineering work with conventional/principled methods.
• Review projects requiring complex/investigative techniques and prepare client reports.
• Lead technical training and inform decisions based on current technology.
• Provide leadership in marketing, sales, and business development.
• Supervise less experienced engineers or technical staff on projects.
• Serve as a Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer.
