Job summary

UES is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide technical leadership, manage complex projects, and grow our geotechnical practice across the Midwest. Flexible to remote or hybrid work, with preference for Midwest-residing candidates near a UES branch for collaboration and occasional in-person project support.

You will lead technical excellence, mentor engineers, manage client relationships, and support business development while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's strongly preferred).
• 8+ years geotechnical experience with at least 3 years in senior/lead role.
• PE license required.
• Expertise in advanced geotechnical modeling, soil-structure interaction, and ground improvement.
• Proven track record managing large-scale, complex projects.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Active participation in professional organizations preferred.
• Ability to travel extensively for client and project needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical excellence on complex geotechnical projects for infrastructure, transportation, energy, and development.
• Oversee investigations, analyses, foundation evaluations, and design recommendations.
• Review and approve technical reports, calculations, specs, and deliverables.
• Develop innovative, cost-effective engineering solutions for challenging sites.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate technical resources.
• Oversee budgets, schedules, quality, and project performance.
• Build and maintain client relationships and pursue major contracts.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and promote best practices.
• Represent the company at industry events and contribute to standards.
