Job summary

CTL Engineering is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer (PE required) to lead geotechnical explorations and investigations for diverse projects across West Virginia and the surrounding region. You will supervise technical work, guide reports, and collaborate with municipal agencies, architects, engineers, developers, and project teams to deliver customized geotechnical studies.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in consulting engineering on civil projects.
• P.E. licensure in West Virginia is required.
• Possesses a valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
• Experience with transportation projects and agencies is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performing and/or leading field investigations, engineering analyses, calculations, and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided.
• Performing geotechnical explorations and investigations, soils/materials testing, maintenance of lab quality.
• Interacting with clients to create new business by providing quality customer service and responsiveness, assist in planning and execution of subsurface investigation programs, locating test-boring inspections in the field and utility coordination, development of design and analysis of earth embankments, earth-retaining structures, anchoring systems, deep foundations, slope stability analysis and foundations, etc.
• Reviewing drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Preparing proposals and cost estimates, tracking and evaluating project progress, budgets, and recommend changes.
• Researching and resolving design and construction problems.
• Assigning, reviewing, and evaluating laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and professional development to Engineers, Geologists, and Technicians.
• Applying sound engineering principles and being able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams.
• Developing and maintaining client relationships.
• Identifying opportunities for new work.
• Assisting with business development and marketing efforts.
• Managing project budgets and schedules.
