Job summary

CTL Engineering, an award-winning, full-service consulting engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Charleston, WV. The role focuses on geotechnical explorations, investigations, and producing customized reports for varied clients across infrastructure and industrial projects.

You will lead technical efforts, mentor engineers and technicians, and help grow client relationships while ensuring compliance with plans and specifications and managing budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in consulting engineering on various civil projects.
• PE licensure in West Virginia is required.
• Possesses a Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
• Experience with transportation projects and agencies such as WVDOT, ODOT, KYTC, or related public agencies is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performing and/or leading field investigations, engineering analyses, calculations, and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports.
• Performing geotechnical explorations and investigations, soils/materials testing, maintenance of lab quality.
• Interacting with clients to create new business by providing quality customer service and responsiveness, assist in planning and execution of subsurface investigation programs.
• Reviewing drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Preparing proposals and cost estimates, tracking and evaluating project progress, budgets, and recommend changes.
• Researching and resolving design and construction problems.
• Assigning, reviewing, and evaluating laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and professional development to Engineers, Geologists, and Technicians.
• Applying sound engineering principles and being able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams.
• Developing and maintaining client relationships.
• Identifying opportunities for new work.
• Assisting with business development and marketing efforts.
• Managing project budgets and schedules.
