Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Americas East Infrastructure team in New York. You will lead geotechnical design and provide hands-on technical input across bridges, rail, tunnels and major redevelopment projects.

Responsibilities include performing analyses, developing ground models, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to bids and proposals. NY-based opportunity with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical or related engineering discipline.
• Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• Approximately 6–10+ years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience with leadership.
• New York PE required or ability to obtain within timeframe.
• Experience with shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, earthworks, and groundwater/dewatering.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical design workstreams for infrastructure and building projects.
• Perform and review geotechnical analyses for foundations, earthworks and slope stability.
• Develop ground models and design parameters from subsurface data.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and geotechnical subconsultants.
• Mentor junior engineers and support business development.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications and construction‑phase documents.
