Job summary

Atlas is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to provide technical leadership for investigations, design and construction support across public and private projects. The role involves leading geotechnical analyses, coordinating with clients and project teams, mentoring junior engineers and contributing to professional development.

Office is in Lakewood, CO; sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is required.
• Minimum 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience with design, analysis, field investigation and construction supervision.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Colorado is required.
• Local experience and familiarity with the local engineering practice are essential.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team-based work.
• Extensive geotechnical background including soil/rock mechanics, earthquake and groundwater knowledge.
• Experience with geotechnical software including slope stability and pile modeling tools; CDOT familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance on geotechnical engineering for diverse projects complying with guidelines.
• Lead geotechnical design, investigation and analysis for buildings, bridges, highways and more.
• Supervise subsurface explorations, lab testing, data interpretation and instrumentation monitoring.
• Oversee geotechnical support during construction of foundations and earthwork.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders and government personnel to resolve geotechnical concerns and support business development.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to professional development and industry engagement.
• Oversee and maintain the quality program and accreditations.
