Job summary

NPAworldwide is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to the Hudson Tunnel Project, a landmark capital project connecting New York and New Jersey. The role focuses on geotechnical investigations, design, and field oversight to ensure safe, reliable infrastructure for commuters.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering with geotechnical coursework; MS preferred.
• 5–10 years of related experience in northern NJ/NYC area.
• EIT certification; NJ PE registration preferred.
• Familiarity with geotechnical software for design of deep/shallow foundations and excavation support.
• Familiarity with AASHTO, NJDOT and Amtrak standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee geotechnical subsurface investigations and field records.
• Supervise pile foundation construction, ground improvement, compaction, excavation, and monitoring.
• Document daily construction activities and prepare field reports.
• Prepare and review Geotechnical Data Reports, Geotechnical Baseline Reports, and foundation design reports.
• Review design/construction documents, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
• Perform geotechnical design for underground structures and foundations.
• Characterize subsurface and prepare geotechnical profiles.
• Model deep foundations and excavation support using geotechnical software.
• Perform slope stability, seepage analyses, liquefaction, and seismic site class evaluations.
• Assist with SOE design in soil and rock; prepare calculations and reports.
• Participate in meetings and prepare technical reports; assist with CAD drawings.
