Job summary

BB&E is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support NAVFAC Atlantic projects in Virginia. The role focuses on planning, design, and construction of facilities with extensive field and design coordination.

Requires a PE license, 10+ years of geotechnical facilities experience, and strong communication skills. Responsibilities include reviewing designs and submittals, coordinating field activities, and ensuring geotechnical work aligns with UFC criteria.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional geotechnical engineering design experience for facilities construction.
• ABET-accredited Civil/Structural geotechnical program with emphasis in geotechnical engineering; Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
• Professional Engineer registration in geotechnical or civil/structural with geotechnical emphasis required.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent geotechnical engineering support for Navy facilities planning, design, and construction.
• Coordinate activities in geotechnical and pavement engineering per UFC criteria.
• Review designs, drawings, costs, and consultant submittals; monitor geotechnical aspects on site.
• Perform field trips to evaluate scoping, design, and construction; inspect soils and foundations.
• Interface with customers and stakeholders to gather information for scoping and failure analysis.
• Assist with cost, scope, schedules, and contract changes coordination as required.
