Job summary

LiRo-Hill in Albany NY is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to review reports, plans and specifications for geotechnical and dam projects. You will work as part of a design team to develop construction level documents and oversee field exploration programs.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years in geotechnical engineering, NY PE within 6 months preferred, and proficiency with GEOSTUDIO, Rocscience, LPILE, HEC-RAS/HMS. Travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geology, or related field.
• Current Professional Engineering License in New York or ability to obtain in 6 months.
• Minimum of 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience; dams/water resources a plus.
• Dam engineering experience is a plus; strong communication and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical review for geotechnical reports, plans and specs for dam and conventional projects.
• Coordinate geotechnical field exploration programs and review subsurface logs.
• Develop design calculations: bearing capacity, settlements, foundations, slope stability, pavement design.
• Prepare memos, evaluations, and reports with design recommendations.
• Perform dam safety inspections and site visits as needed; support other divisions.
