GEI’s Ithaca, New York office is expanding, and we are seeking a Geotechnical, Civil, or Water Resource Project Engineer. This individual will support field- and office-related efforts on geotechnical, water resource, and environmental projects, working closely with senior leadership in Ithaca and other locations.

Description

Office tasks may include data compilation and review, developing conceptual and final designs, reviewing construction submittals, and preparing technical and cost proposals, reports, and work plans. Field activities may include overseeing geotechnical exploration programs, inspecting water retaining structures, and construction oversight.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

• Managing, training, and mentoring staff within the Ithaca office and other locations.
• Managing tasks and projects within your technical specialty.
• Providing technical review and directing project activities of staff engineers.
• Analyzing data and preparing technical reports, letters, and memoranda.
• Developing construction drawings, technical specifications, bid documents, and project schedules.
• Developing and adhering to project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Preparing technical and cost proposals to secure professional services and develop new business.
• Supporting other GEI offices with proposals and service delivery.
• Building and maintaining client relationships.
• Representing GEI in communications and conferences related to your area of expertise.
• Traveling to project sites and other offices as needed, including overnight stays.
• Collaborating with team leads regionally and nationally to support initiatives.
• Contributing to strategic planning at the branch and regional levels.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive engineering experience, working on interdisciplinary teams, with strong communication skills.
• Ability to obtain Professional Licensure.
• Proficiency in MS Office and technical software for analysis and data presentation.
• Excellent technical and communication skills.
• Experience supervising and reviewing work of others.
• Ability to develop client relationships and pursue new business.
• Willingness to travel for short-term assignments.
• Ability to perform field tasks and oversight year-round.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s license.
