The Terracon office in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support our diverse project portfolio. This role offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with a well-established technical team, foster client relationships, and expand our geotechnical consulting practice.

Our Senior Geotechnical Engineers will deliver engineering and consulting services across various projects and clients, including conducting and leading field investigations, performing engineering analyses, developing plans and specifications, overseeing construction activities, and preparing comprehensive geotechnical reports. Responsibilities also include reviewing drawings for compliance, preparing proposals, tracking project progress, and resolving design and construction issues.

The role requires applying sound engineering principles and effectively communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Services are provided for projects in public works, transportation, commercial, energy, industrial sectors, and more.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  1. Lead safety efforts: Ensure team adherence to safety protocols and promote a safe work environment.
  2. Quality monitoring: Continuously oversee and improve project quality standards.
  3. Risk management: Understand project risks and adhere to company policies to mitigate them.
  4. Technical direction: Provide guidance for routine and complex projects.
  5. Design and investigative planning: Conceptualize initial design or investigative approaches for major project phases.
  6. Project coordination: Plan, schedule, and oversee engineering tasks, including managing conflicting requirements.
  7. Review and supervision: Review complex investigation reports and supervise analysis and recommendations.
  8. Technical training and decision-making: Lead technical training and make informed decisions on technology issues.
  9. Business development: Lead marketing, sales, and business growth efforts.
  10. Supervision: Oversee less experienced engineers and technical support staff.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
