Job summary

MAXAR TECHNOLOGIES, INC. in Orlando, FL is seeking a Senior GIS Analyst to support development of synthetic environments for defense training, mission rehearsal, and operational analysis.

The role focuses on acquiring, editing, transforming geospatial data, QA/QC, and creating production-ready content, collaborating with product owners, software engineers, data specialists in an Agile setting. The ideal candidate has 7+ years GIS experience and ArcGIS/FME expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Geomatics, Cartography, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• At least 7 years of professional GIS/geospatial data processing experience.
• Advanced working knowledge of Esri ArcGIS (ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcMap).
• Professional experience with Safe Software FME for data transformation and automation.
• Working knowledge of QGIS and open-source geospatial tools.
• Strong understanding of coordinate reference systems, projections, datums, metadata.
• Experience with common GIS formats (shapefiles, geodatabases, GeoPackage, GeoJSON, KML/KMZ, raster, point clouds).
• Experience with GIS data QA/QC, topology checks, attribution reviews, and positional accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and processing of geospatial datasets for synthetic environments and simulation applications.
• Acquire and compile geospatial data from diverse sources (satellite imagery, field data, OpenStreetMap, local government sources).
• Extract, digitize, clean, attribute, edit, and maintain curated vector features (transportation, hydrography, structures, vegetation).
• Review AI-extracted features for quality, usability, and production readiness.
• Develop and enforce GIS data standards, schemas, metadata, and QA/QC procedures.
• Develop repeatable workflows and automation scripts to improve efficiency.
• Produce technical documentation, processing guides, data dictionaries, test procedures, and project reports.
• Collaborate with product owners, engineers, testers, and GIS professionals in an Agile environment.
• Mentor junior analysts and support secure-environment operations.
