Job summary

MSTS operates and maintains the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the NNSA, delivering high-hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through engineering, education, field, and integration services. The Senior Geologist provides expert geological support for subsurface data collection, interpretation, and QA across programs.

The role involves leading drilling and geophysical activities, developing geologic models, drafting technical reports, and managing database systems

Qualifications

• Requires a STEM bachelor's with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Geosciences degree preferred.
• MS or PhD in geoscience preferred.
• Experience planning and leading drilling operations for exploration preferred.
• Experience in borehole geophysical log interpretation preferred.
• Experience with EarthVision or Datamine and geoscience relational databases preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute drilling projects and geologic modeling.
• Evaluate borehole geophysical logs and subsurface data.
• Lead geoscience teams on drilling and mapping projects.
• Oversee borehole logging operations and subcontract management.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications.
• Develop relational databases of drill hole information.
