Job summary

Tennessee Department of Transportation is seeking a Region Geodetics Engineering Technician 4 to support field data collection, staking, and geodetic deliverables in Region 3. The role combines field operations and office analysis to minimize variability and ensure accurate geodetic datasets in TDOT standards.

You will mentor crews, draft technical outputs with ORD and other software, and help maintain training schedules while coordinating with project teams to meet the Work Program goals.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: high school diploma and four years of relevant transportation operations experience, or equivalent.
• Substitution: an associate degree may substitute for 2 years of experience in the related field.
• Experience areas include inspections, materials testing, surveying, and TM/ITS operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with geodetic data collection, analysis, and technical drawings.
• Coordinate workflows and troubleshoot geodetics equipment/software.
• Monitor calibration and ensure compliance with TDOT standards.
• Guide survey field crews in land and control surveys.
• Produce data and reports with accuracy for legal descriptions.
