Job summary

The Region Geodetics Engineering Technician 4 plays a crucial role in executing geodetic surveying operations in the field by organizing, assisting with coordinating and guiding survey crews. This position specializes in field and office data collection, staking, and other technical geodetics tasks to ensure accurate deliverables.

They assist the Region Geodetics Foreman by ensuring TDOT policies and procedures are followed, and by training and mentoring staff, communicating geodetic concepts

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to graduation from high school and four or more years of relevant transportation operations experience.
• Associate degree may substitute for 2 years of experience in the related field.
• Experience in transportation operations including surveying, testing, documentation, or related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist project teams by collecting geodetic data and supporting analysis and drawings.
• Develop workflows for geodetics equipment and software; troubleshoot tools.
• Guide field crews in land, engineering, and control surveys; estimate time and resources.
• Use ORD to draft drawings and ensure compliance with TDOT standards.
• Maintain training schedules and produce legal descriptions when needed.
