Job summary

M.C. Dean in Tysons, VA is seeking a Generator Technician to maintain, service, and troubleshoot diesel-powered systems and related equipment across critical facilities.

The role focuses on IC engines, generators, ATS, and associated control wiring, with on-call availability and potential travel. Knowledge of engine control systems, electrical and mechanical safety, and experience with large building infrastructures are essential.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED with 7+ years of experience.
• Experience supporting large buildings, industrial facilities, or critical infrastructure (overseas experience preferred).
• 7+ years hands-on experience with complex diesel power systems, including DRUPS units.

Responsibilities

• Assist inspections and modify IC engines, diesel generators, and related equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on ATS and annunciator panels.
• Test load units to identify problems and prevent wet stacking.
• Modify wiring to diesel control circuits.
• Rebuild and repair components (e.g., gas compressors, head gaskets) as needed.
• Conduct automatic/manual transfer tests for power outages to ensure proper function.
• Test batteries, fuel, coolant, and oil; ship samples for analysis.
• Transport and dispose hazardous materials.
• On-call availability 7x24; occasional travel may be required.
