Job summary

Fort Worth ISD is seeking a senior accounting professional to oversee end-to-end general ledger activities and ensure strict compliance with TEA standards. The role reports to the Director II - Accounting and supports audit readiness.

The position administers journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis, collaborating across departments. A CPA preferred and a strong background in governmental accounting is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• CPA or RTSBA certification preferred.
• 4 years of progressively responsible experience in Financial Management or related field.
• Experience with public finance, payroll, grants, and treasury is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily financial activities and end-to-end general ledger maintenance, ensuring compliance with TEA FASRG.
• Prepares and reviews complex journal entries, reconciliations (general ledger, bank, fixed assets), and accruals.
• Analyzes district financial data and budget activity to deliver actionable insights to leadership.
• Coordinates with departments to gather transactions, clears reconciling items, and optimizes cross-functional workflows.
• Supports General Ledger and Compliance teams as a subject matter expert.
• Reviews team outputs for accuracy, regulatory alignment, and resolves issues.
• Maintains deadlines, internal controls, records management, and integrity of outputs.
• Supports the Director of Accounting in audits and prepares schedules and work papers.
• Provides backup for accounts payable and leads ad-hoc financial projects as needed.
