Job summary

Portage Point Partners in Chicago seeks a General Counsel to lead the legal function as the firm's senior advisor, overseeing contracts, regulatory compliance, risk and corporate governance across practice lines and geographies. Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from a top law school with active bar admission in good standing.
• Seven+ years of legal experience, including time at a leading law firm and in-house in professional services/consulting/financial advisory or investment banking.
• Located in or willing to relocate to Chicago, with ability to work on-site four days per week.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the principal legal advisor to the CEO, Board, Sponsor and executive leadership on legal and governance matters.
• Own the firm's client contracting framework, including engagement letters, MSAs, SOWs and NDAs with indemnification terms and risk standards.
• Oversee regulatory compliance across the platform including broker-dealer and FINRA obligations and cross-border requirements.
• Manage disputes, litigation, claims and professional liability matters, including outside counsel.
• Advise on employment matters, equity arrangements and support corporate development activities like acquisitions and new offices.
• Lead internal trainings and best-practice sharing.
• Support talent acquisition and firm-building initiatives.
