Job summary

Justice Grown in New Jersey is seeking a General Counsel to serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and a key legal partner across the organization.

This hands-on leadership role requires strong litigation, regulatory, and corporate governance experience to guide policy, risk management, and strategic transactions while aligning legal strategy with business objectives for a multi-state cannabis operation.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Active and in-good-standing admission to practice law in New Jersey.
• Active Pennsylvania bar admission is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage litigation and complex legal disputes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the organization's primary internal legal resource for litigation, threatened litigation, disputes, claims, investigations, and administrative proceedings.
• Provide strategic legal advice to executive leadership on corporate, regulatory, employment, and commercial matters.
• Oversee regulatory compliance, governance, and contract negotiations across multiple departments and jurisdictions.
• Manage outside counsel, budgets, and legal spend; develop and implement legal matter-management processes.
• Support licensing, registrations, and regulatory filings relevant to cannabis operations.
