Provide leadership for the daily financial operations of the General Accounting Department and support accurate financial reporting across multiple UCLA Health entities. As the Senior General Accounting Manager, you will oversee general ledger activities, financial reporting, accounting operations, audits, reconciliations, and complex financial projects while leading and developing a team of accounting and financial professionals. This role works closely with hospital departments, campus partners, internal and external stakeholders, and senior leadership to strengthen financial stewardship, resolve accounting issues, and support accurate and compliant financial reporting.

In this role, you will:

• Lead general accounting operations and establish financial objectives that support accurate and complete financial and statistical reporting.
• Manage the general ledger month-end process, including review of journal entries, schedules, analytical reviews, accruals, adjustments, and monthly reconciliations between the Medical Center and University general ledgers.
• Oversee monthly reporting packages, including profit and loss and cash flow reporting, and prepare financial presentations and dashboards for committees and senior and executive leadership.
• Ensure financial reporting aligns with applicable accounting guidance, including GASB 68, GASB 75, GASB 87, GASB 96, and GASB 103, and manage annual fund balance rollforwards and required year-end closing activities.
• Analyze revenue and expense variances, support complex accounting transactions, and respond to financial data requests involving new accounting guidance, agreements, projects, joint ventures, and potential acquisitions or hospital additions.
• Support internal and third-party audits, including financial statement and Uniform Guidance audits, and manage quarterly and annual OSHPD reporting requirements.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders on system implementations, upgrades, integrations, chart of account conversions, and other accounting projects, including project planning, timelines, and user acceptance testing.
• Develop and execute departmental policies and processes, identify solutions to accounting and operational issues, and communicate technical and non-technical information to stakeholders.
• Lead, develop, and retain staff by establishing goals, delegating work, monitoring performance, managing departmental resources and budgets, and promoting collaboration and accountability.

Salary Range:

$108,900 to $241,500 annually

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Ten or more years of progressive accounting experience.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as enterprise resource planning systems and other desktop and web-based tools.
• Extensive knowledge of financial transaction systems, accounting policies, accounting principles, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Familiarity with fund accounting, gifts, grants, and endowments.
• Ability to research and recommend accounting treatments for financial transactions and related accounting analyses.
• Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to direct staff, delegate responsibilities, establish priorities, and support departmental goals.
• Strong critical thinking, judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex financial and operational issues.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, high-volume environment while working with a high degree of independence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across organizational levels.

Preferred

• CPA certification.
• Experience in healthcare financial management.
