Job summary

Harvard University’s Harvard Business School invites an experienced GenAI Engineer to join the Digital Transformation team on campus in Boston. You will architect and scale GenAI applications, supervise ML pipelines, and drive measurable business value with cutting‑edge AI technologies.

You will collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and engineers, deploy production models, and promote safe, ethical AI while mentoring teammates and contributing to open‑source practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years’ post‑secondary education or relevant work experience
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering, statistics, or an equivalent technical discipline desired
• Minimum of two to three years of software development experience with Python and SQL
• Minimum of two to three years of experience building and deploying NLP and deep learning model pipelines into a cloud environment
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow, including optimizing code for GPU clusters
• Experience with GenAI workflows such as retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) and parameter‑efficient fine‑tuning (PEFT/SFT) using LangChain or similar frameworks
• Experience establishing model guardrails and bias detection techniques for AI applications
• Strong understanding of LLM foundations and transformer architectures
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, big data tools, Linux, and cloud providers
• Familiarity with data pipelines and workflow tools
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: unit testing, CI/CD, code reviews, and design documentation

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, maintain, and improve GenAI applications and their underlying systems
• Automate ML pipelines, monitor performance and costs, optimize models with PEFT/LoRA
• Establish reusable frameworks for model building, deployment and monitoring
• Build guardrails and oversight workflows into the GenAI platform
• Develop templates and sandbox environments for onboarding and experimentation
• Ensure safe, reliable user‑facing applications with validation and testing
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to deploy features across apps
• Mentor teammates in production‑grade ML coding practices
• Monitor, debug, and resolve production issues; align with project managers
• Collaborate with Technical Product Managers to track KPIs and improvements
