Job summary

Cactus Communications seeks a Freelance Subject Matter Expert in GenAI for medical research. The SME will guide design of GenAI-enabled products and workflows, ensuring rigorous clinical research and high-quality evidence synthesis.

You will collaborate with clinicians, data scientists, engineers, and product managers to translate complex clinical needs into AI-assisted research capabilities. Ideal candidates are active physicians with extensive experience in trials, reviews, or meta-analyses

Qualifications

• MD with specialization in Internal Medicine and active US clinical license
• Advanced academic or research training (PhD/MPH/MS) in Clinical Research, Biomedical Informatics, or Epidemiology
• Demonstrated peer‑reviewed publications as first or senior author
• Hands‑on experience in conducting or supervising RCTs, systematic reviews, or meta‑analyses
• Principal Investigator experience is desirable
• Familiarity with medical databases and modern data extraction/tools

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance in product/workflow design for clinical research (systematic/narrative/scoping reviews, RCTs, qualitative studies)
• Evaluate and validate GenAI outputs for scientific accuracy and methodological rigor per CONSORT/PRISMA/GRADE
• Facilitate integration of clinical/biomedical data into AI-enabled tools with emphasis on journal content
• Collaborate with product managers, GenAI data scientists, UX designers, and developers to define test cases and translate workflows into AI-assisted research capabilities
• Define evaluation metrics for GenAI agent accuracy, bias, and reliability in research/publication settings
• Provide clinical review throughout model selection, tuning, testing, and refinement
• Serve as a clinical thought leader informing agentic product development
• Support teams in interpreting clinical data, research methodologies, and publication standards
• Represent the organization in selected customer engagements
