Job summary

Burtch Works is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Overland Park, KS, to lead Generative AI innovation for an institutional banking client. The role blends hands-on software engineering with applied AI research, building prototypes and guiding them through governance to production.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, evaluate AI platforms, and deliver scalable AI-enabled workflows using modern cloud services and APIs. Strong communication and ownership are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with Java or Python, APIs, and cloud services.
• Hands-on Generative AI experience with LLMs.
• Strong problem-solving and ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ownership of complex problems from concept through implementation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy proof-of-concept and production-ready Generative AI solutions using modern software engineering practices and cloud-native technologies.
• Evaluate, prototype, and validate emerging Generative AI capabilities, platforms, tools, and vendors for Institutional Banking use cases.
• Develop AI-enabled applications and workflows using LLMs, RAG, agentic AI frameworks, document intelligence, workflow automation, APIs, and cloud services.
• Transform business ideas into working software by rapidly prototyping and conducting technical experiments.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify high-value opportunities where AI improves productivity and decision-making.
• Provide technical input for governance, risk, and compliance processes related to AI initiatives.
