Job summary

Tufts Medicine is seeking a Physician Assistant – Gastroenterology to support physician staff in delivering high-quality medical services. You will conduct comprehensive evaluations, coordinate treatment plans, and help manage patient care under physician supervision.

The role emphasizes collaboration with nurses and other clinicians, ordering diagnostics, and educating patients and families about treatment options and preventive care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Successful completion of a Physician’s Assistant program.
• PA licensure within the first three months after application for medical staff membership and privilege.
• PA Certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Manages a broad spectrum of patients and performs a wide range of clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• In collaboration with the healthcare team, assesses health status by taking medical histories and performing exams, and orders necessary diagnostic studies.
• Assesses patient/family psychosocial needs, educational needs, and barriers to learning during admission.
• Develops an effective, comprehensive plan of care tailored to each patient.
• Communicates professionally with patient/family and colleagues to coordinate care.
• Orders labs and radiological testing based on assessment of needs.
