Job summary

Black Hills Energy in Cody, Wyoming is seeking a Gas Operations Technician I, II or Senior to maintain and operate the gas distribution system safely. This role includes leak surveys, odorization, CP and construction work, with level-based responsibilities and pay scales.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, relevant gas/maintenance experience (Level II or Senior preferred), and the ability to live within 30 minutes of the Cody office. Competitive hourly wages apply.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Level II requires minimum 2 years of experience in natural gas, construction, maintenance, or related field.
• Senior requires up to 4 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide material recommendations for load and pressure.
• Ensure accurate location and installation of service lines, mains and meters.
• Perform underground leak classification and repairs.
• Gas measurement, pressure regulation and over-pressure protection installations.
• Install facilities per specifications (trench depth/width, auguring, plowing, shoring).
• Perform hot line tapping of mains and services with proper equipment and procedures.
• Maintain certifications and perform plastic fusion of mains and services.
• Perform Walking Gas Leak Survey with an instrument.
• Odorant checks and maintenance on odorizers.
• Perform CP checks.
• Inspect and supervise construction activities of gas contract crews.
