Job summary

Granite Construction Incorporated is seeking a Senior Accountant to provide advanced professional accounting support within the General Accounting department, aligning records with GAAP and company policies.

The role involves journal entries, reconciliations, monthly closes, financial reporting review, and cross-functional collaboration under a matrix management environment. A Bachelor's in Accounting and 5+ years of experience are required; JD Edwards/Oracle exposure is a plus, CPA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Establish, interpret, and analyze complex accounting records to support strategic decision making and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries to support the monthly close process.
• Review financial reports to ensure the accuracy and clarity of information presented.
• Prepare selected balance sheet reconciliations and analyses to ensure GAAP compliance.
• Participate in monthly review of financial package to ensure accuracy and assist decision making.
• Respond to inquiries from Management/Executives regarding monthly financial package.
• Assist Manager with research related inquiries to support strategic decision making.
• Perform special projects and additional assignments to support the department.
• Participate in cross training efforts that support personal development and provide departmental coverage.
