Job summary

Confidential is hiring a Senior Fund Controller to build and own the accounting function for a growing real estate investment firm in West LA. This role involves overseeing outsourced accounting, establishing internal controls, and expanding automation to speed up close cycles.

You will manage multi-entity fund reporting, NAV reviews, waterfall calculations, and investor allocations, coordinating with tax advisors and lenders.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate, private equity, fund management or similar environments.
• Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred; Big 4 or public accounting background a plus.
• Proven experience consolidating multi-entity, multi-fund portfolios for external reporting.
• Strong command of private fund accounting.
• Systems fluency with a major property platform (Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, or similar) and fund administration tools.

Responsibilities

• Month-end close and financial reporting across the portfolio, reviewing outsourced financial packages, running variance analysis, and ensuring accurate, on-time close
• Owner-level consolidations: turning property-level detail into portfolio reporting for tax advisors and lenders
• Fund-level economics: reviewing NAV, recalculating fees and waterfalls, and verifying investor allocations and returns
• Accounting system architecture: chart of accounts, entity structure, integrations, and expanding automation/AI to improve close speed and accuracy
• AP and vendor management at the corporate and fund level, with oversight of property-level AP
• Cash management and treasury: liquidity planning, controls, wire approvals, and cash-flow forecasting across entities
• Investor distributions and reporting, in coordination with a fund administrator
• Reconciliations, technical accounting entries, and GL integrity across multiple entities
• Lender reporting support, new-entity/transaction accounting, and coordination of tax and audit work with outside providers
