Qualifications

• 5+ years in safety-critical systems or embedded software.
• 2–3 years in functional safety.
• MSc in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Direct experience taking a product through an independent certification body (Notified Body, TÜV, UL, exida, or equivalent).
• Safety-first architectural instinct — design for failure and safe-state management.
• Experience with IEC 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 21448 (SOTIF) or similar.
• Strong C/C++ and Python; familiarity with ARM, Linux, RTOS.
• Hands-on interfacing software with hardware across safety-critical domains.
• Willing to travel on-site for commissioning and audits.

Responsibilities

• Audit vendor hardware safety manuals to confirm scope supports certification.
• Architect the safety envelope for people-sensing software and integration to customers’ machines.
• Build and maintain the functional safety management system and software safety lifecycle.
• Produce the quantitative safety case and full documentation set for integrators.
• Define safety goals, concepts, and cases for PLd/SIL2 and SOTIF.
• Support integration, commissioning, and maintenance of safety systems, including travel.
