Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to strengthen its automotive safety capability. You will apply ISO 26262 across concepts through production, collaborating with global teams to deliver safe, robust vehicle systems.

You will develop safety analyses, define requirements, and use MBSE/SysML to enhance traceability while supporting continuous improvement in safety processes. This is a hybrid role onsite most weeks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree required (Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace/CS or equivalent).
• 4+ years in cross-functional product development with systems engineering concepts.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and authoring technical requirements and engineering documents.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to perform ISO 26262 Functional Safety analysis.
• Develop, maintain, and deliver Functional Safety work products including safety analyses and concepts.
• Define safety requirements and support safe system design decisions.
• Apply Ford Functional Safety processes, tools and training for consistent execution.
• Use MBSE and SysML to improve clarity and traceability of analyses.
• Contribute to common safety ratings, tools, and training materials.
• Support improvement initiatives to simplify processes while maintaining safety rigor.
• Communicate technical conclusions clearly through documentation and reviews.
