Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Functional Analyst - II for a remote role in the Veterans Affairs department. The position requires extensive experience in Agile/SAFe, requirements management, and interaction with customers, IT, and leadership to elicit and document complex requirements.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex topics to diverse audiences.
• Attention to detail, customer service mindset, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience conducting independent research to support complex questions.
• Advanced experience with MS Office, including Excel.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
• Experience with JIRA tools.
• Experience in large, Agile software development or data integration projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the capture of business requirements for software development teams.
• Collaborate with business users, IT, and leadership to document requirements in an ALM tool.
• Manage requirements in an ALM tool and perform Agile requirement management for a product team.
• Analyze user needs to determine functional, cross-functional, and technical requirements.
• Conduct user interviews and develop process models and formal specifications.
• Gather and document business, functional, technical, and non-technical requirements.
• Elaborate user stories and decompose into backlog items with acceptance criteria.
• Use JIRA for requirements management, testing, and defect management.
• Track system and business requirements and validate integration.
• Conduct backlog refinement and coordinate with Systems Engineers.
