Job summary

Envoy is seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer for the Response team to build and scale our Threat Intelligence and Emergency Notifications platforms. You will tackle real-time data pipelines, distributed systems, and AI-powered decision-making, while owning backend services and customer-facing experiences.

This on-site role in San Francisco requires four days per week in HQ, with opportunities to mentor, design architecture, and impact safety-critical systems.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
• 7+ years building and operating production software with strong backend focus.
• Strong programming fundamentals with Kotlin or Java.
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems, microservices, and APIs.
• Experience with Postgres data modeling, queries, and performance.
• Experience with asynchronous processing and messaging systems like Kafka.
• Proficiency in React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS to deliver frontend features.
• Strong product mindset balancing technical excellence with customer value.
• Ability to drive projects independently and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale real-time threat intelligence systems ingesting data from many sources.
• Solve distributed systems problems like high-throughput processing and data deduplication.
• Apply AI to real-world engineering challenges and reduce noise for actionable insights.
• Develop scalable backend services, APIs, and data models using Kotlin, Kafka, Postgres, AWS, OpenSearch.
• Build customer-facing experiences using React and TypeScript, owning end-to-end features.
• Drive architectural decisions balancing scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Own features from design to production operations and monitoring.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other Eng teams to translate customer problems.
• Mentor peers and raise engineering standards through code reviews.
