Job summary

Rivian’s Autonomy organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, ML Applications to design and deliver large-scale ML data pipelines and applications within the Data & Cloud team.

You will own backend services (Go/Python), full-stack web apps (TypeScript/React), and data stores (MongoDB/Postgres), collaborating with architects, ML engineers, and data engineers to scale petabyte-scale sensor data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in Computer Science or related field with 3+ years of experience, or 6+ years of industry experience without a degree.
• Strong experience in Python, Go, or Java backend development.
• Experience building full-stack applications using JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Hands-on with MongoDB and Postgres, NoSQL at scale is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own backend and RESTful API design and implementation (Go/Python).
• Build and evolve full-stack web applications (TypeScript, React).
• Manage data persistence using MongoDB and Postgres; evaluate tradeoffs for scale and cost.
• Collaborate with architects, ML/data engineers on requirements and design.
• Deploy services and pipelines using CI/CD, Git, Kubernetes, and AWS.
• Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost, performance and reliability.
• Uphold quality through testing and code reviews.
• Mentor peers on engineering standards and best practices.
