Job summary

Luxoft in New York, NY seeks a highly technical Java developer to contribute to a modular, end-to-end trade management platform for the financial markets infrastructure sector. You will design and implement backend services, collaborate with frontend teams, and ensure robust, scalable systems.

The role requires 5-8+ years of software engineering experience, strong Java fundamentals, Spring Boot, REST APIs, React, SQL, and Linux expertise.

Qualifications

• Strong Java fundamentals including modern features and memory management.
• Extensive experience with Spring Framework (Spring 4+)/Spring Boot 3.x.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Knowledge of React integration with backend services.
• Solid SQL/PostgreSQL experience and data modeling skills.
• Proficiency with Git and build tools (Maven/Gradle).
• Commitment to clean code, unit testing and code reviews.
• Familiar with Agile development practices.
• Comfortable in Linux/Unix environments.
• 5-8+ years of software engineering experience; finance domain is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to design, development, and implementation of backend services and web applications.
• Writes clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established engineering practices.
• Participates in technical design discussions with senior engineers and architects.
• Collaborates with frontend developers to integrate backend services with UI components.
• Supports troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Translates user stories into technical tasks and delivers within timelines.
• Works in Agile teams with product owners, QA, and other developers.
• Maintains and improves existing systems ensuring stability and reliability.
• Builds positive relationships within the team and communicates technical concepts clearly.
