AppFolio seeks a senior-level full-stack Software Engineer to join our Leasing Engineering Team and drive rapid product development pace for our SaaS products. We define technical direction and build high-quality, scalable solutions that empower thousands of real estate customers.

This role involves building robust features, improving performance, and ensuring maintainability while collaborating with engineering, QA, product, and design to deliver end-to-end results.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing and scaling web-based applications, preferably in a SaaS environment.
• Comfortable across all levels of the development stack and adept at breaking down complex problems.
• Experience leading technical projects end-to-end—from requirements through implementation and rollout.
• Experience with modern Agile software development practices (Scrum, Kanban, CI/CD).
• Strong experience with automated testing and its role in sustainable engineering.
• Language agnostic with deep experience in Ruby, Java, or Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable, resilient, and elegant web-based solutions to solve complex business problems at scale.
• Lead by example in design, coding, and architecture; mentor and coach other engineers.
• Formulate, implement, and optimize algorithms and database queries for SaaS scalability, performance, and stability.
• Design and deliver new features and improve existing ones with focus on robustness and maintainability.
• Drive engineering excellence through test-driven development, code reviews, and CI practices.
• Collaborate with engineers, QA, product managers, designers, and researchers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Champion agile practices that emphasize collaboration, prioritization, urgency, and accountability.
• Proactively research and apply new technologies to improve system quality and accelerate delivery.
