Job summary

AppFolio in Santa Barbara, CA, is hiring a Full Stack Senior Software Engineer to join the Affordable Housing team. You will own domain problems, build scalable web applications, and help manage complex data flows to meet regulatory requirements while delivering a reliable SaaS experience.

You’ll mentor peers, work in a high-trust agile environment, continuously improve code quality through reviews and TDD, and explore new technologies to push our housing platform forward.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering teams.
• Experience building web apps in agile SaaS environments.
• Strong knowledge of Ruby on Rails, React, MySQL, AWS, and SOA.
• Familiarity with TDD and modern SDLC practices.

Responsibilities

• Build a deep understanding of the Affordable Housing domain and own the space.
• Develop scalable, robust web-based solutions, refactor or build from scratch when sensible.
• Mentor and guide other software engineers.
• Implement new features and optimize existing ones for performance.
• Collaborate with QA, product owners, and designers in a high-trust agile team.
• Turn complex problems into thin deliverables with Agile execution.
• Research, share, and adopt new technologies while maintaining engineering excellence.
• Prioritize quality with thoughtful test coverage, CI, and swift bug fixes.
