Job summary

McGraw Hill is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer (Full Stack) to drive progress on the Connect platform, a course management and adaptive learning solution used by millions of learners.

As the technical linchpin, you will design and build scalable back-end systems and RESTful APIs, collaborate across product, sales, and design, and help ensure security, performance, and reliability in a cloud environment. This remote role welcomes candidates across the United States, preferably in the East Coast

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering or back-end development experience.
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs and working with microservices.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on development: design, build, test, and maintain scalable back-end systems and APIs.
• Technical execution: translate designs and requirements into high-quality software.
• Collaboration: work with engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver robust platform functionality.
• Code quality: write clean, testable code and participate in reviews and automated testing.
• Performance & reliability: optimize server performance, queries, and scalability for responsive apps.
• Operational excellence: support monitoring, troubleshooting and incident resolution with observability tools.
