McGraw Hill is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in the United States to own features end-to-end—from scoping and estimates to deployment and monitoring—while mentoring teammates and shaping technical practices.

You will collaborate across product and design teams to deliver robust, observable solutions using a modern stack (Go, Java, TypeScript, Angular, AWS, Kubernetes) and participate in design reviews to raise the bar on quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong full-stack development skills across frontend and backend.
• Experience owning features end-to-end and mentoring others.
• Ability to write clear technical design docs and communicate tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Own projects end-to-end from scope to deployment and monitoring, managing ambiguity effectively and proactively raising risks.
• Deliver robust, maintainable features with minimal oversight while improving reliability, test coverage, or observability on your own initiative.
• Write clear design documents, communicate tradeoffs effectively, and engage in respectful technical debates with cross-functional partners.
• Drive design reviews, improve team standards, and share knowledge proactively across the team.
• Mentor junior engineers through code review, pairing, and design guidance, promoting an inclusive learning culture.
• Independently own medium to large features or systems, coordinating cross-team work when needed.
