Job summary

Firstup, Inc. is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer who thrives at the intersection of craft and scale, designing and delivering large-scale, multi-tenant cloud services with a focus on availability, fault-tolerance, and elegant architecture.

You'll lead end-to-end development across frontend, backend, and data layers, set the bar for engineering quality, and mentor engineers while collaborating with Product & Design to translate requirements into intuitive UI and robust systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years building reliable, performant applications and microservices in production environments.
• Full-stack fluency across frontend, backend, and database layers.
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, Node.js, or React.js is a strong plus.
• Proven full-stack experience across frontend (React.js), backend, and database layers.
• Technical depth in domains like distributed systems, multi-tenant SaaS, databases, networking, security, serverless, or event streaming.

Responsibilities

• Core Engineering & Ownership: Build and own scalable SaaS applications end-to-end — frontend, backend, and data layers.
• System Architecture: Design future-ready architectures and proactively close gaps.
• Performance & Reliability: Drive system availability and performance; resolve reliability issues across the stack.
• Shift Left Testing & Quality: Champion rigorous shift-left testing with unit, integration, and contract tests.
• AI Integration: Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate development while ensuring code quality.
• Leadership: Drive best practices, conduct code reviews, and mentor engineers.
• Collaboration (Product & Design): Partner to translate requirements into intuitive UI with informed trade-offs.
• Collaboration (Engineering Standards): Champion engineering best practices across teams.
