Job summary

ScrumLaunch is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to design and implement scalable web apps using Ruby on Rails for APIs and Next.js for user interfaces. You will lead architecture, code quality, and performance improvements across the stack.

This is a mostly remote US-based role with periodic in-person offsites near NYC or LA. Candidates should have 5+ years of experience, deep Rails and React/Next.js skills, strong PostgreSQL and cloud know-how, and proven leadership in fast-moving projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software experience, with at least 3+ years in a Senior Full-Stack capacity.
• Backend: Ruby on Rails (REST/GraphQL APIs, Active Record, Sidekiq).
• Frontend: Next.js and React (TypeScript a strong plus).
• Database & Cloud: PostgreSQL; AWS/GCP/Heroku/Vercel.
• Location: Based in the United States, prefer NYC or LA proximity for in-person offsites.

Responsibilities

• Full-Stack Architecture: Design, build, and maintain scalable web applications using Ruby on Rails and Next.js.
• Frontend Excellence: Utilize Next.js features and React patterns for fast UX.
• Backend & Database Management: Write clean Ruby code; optimize PostgreSQL/Redis; manage background tasks.
• System Performance: Ensure high availability, microservices/API integration, low latency.
• Technical Leadership: Conduct code reviews, mentor teammates, collaborate with PMs and designers.
