Job summary

Modern Health in the United States is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Full-Stack to own end-to-end development across web and mobile, partnering with product and design to deliver scalable care experiences. You will work across React/React Native, GraphQL, Python (Django/Flask), PostgreSQL, and AWS, driving architecture, RFCs, tests, and documentation while mentoring others.

This is a fully remote role for US-based team members; Hawaii is not eligible.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant software development experience.
• 2+ years of production experience in full-stack web development (React, JS/TS, React Native, Python).
• Experience building GraphQL and/or REST APIs.
• Experience scaling relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with product/design/engineering teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to align with stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring and working with distributed teams.
• Experience leading and architecting large-scale projects as a technical thought leader.
• Passion for building solutions that improve lives.

Responsibilities

• Truly full stack product development with a slight backend lean.
• Build and maintain GraphQL APIs powered by Python services (Django, Flask).
• Implement web and mobile user experiences using React & React Native.
• Engineer efficient and reusable systems for complex web/mobile apps.
• Maintain HIPAA and GDPR compliance and security best practices.
• Write and execute technical plans (tech specs/RFCs) for large projects.
• Lead cross-team engineering initiatives and coordinate dependencies.
• Mentor engineers to scale impact across Care Journey and engineering.
