Job summary

Swiftly is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build scalable, cloud-based services and end-to-end experiences across backend and frontend. You’ll work with Product, Design, and Engineering to discover solutions and ship production-ready features using Java, Python, or Node.js, with Vue.js on the frontend.

Join a distributed team across the U.S. and Canada, helping transit agencies improve reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building real-time data processing systems.
• Comfort applying modern AI tools to accelerate development and improve quality.
• Full-stack skills: strong in Java, Python, or Node/JavaScript; Vue.js frontend.
• Experience building and consuming APIs; SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred).
• Strong product mindset and pragmatic use of technology.
• Open to learning across the stack and collaborating with teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and extend products and features.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to validate needs and approaches.
• Prototype quickly to de-risk projects and move ideas to production.
• Deliver incremental value and demo progress regularly.
• Communicate trade-offs and document architectural decisions.
• Apply modern software practices for robust systems.
• Mentor teammates through code reviews and pairing.
• Take ownership of code and product domain and drive continuous improvement.
