Job summary

Capital One is seeking experienced Full-Stack Software Engineers to drive a major transformation across the company. You will build distributed microservices and full-stack systems using Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, and manage containers with Docker and Kubernetes in an AWS-centric environment.

You’ll collaborate with product managers, define service boundaries with architects, establish engineering standards, and mentor teammates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
• At least 4 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Preferred: Master’s Degree in CS or related field.
• 7+ years of Python or Go experience (preferred).
• 3+ years of JS/TypeScript front-end experience (preferred).
• 3+ years of AWS/public cloud experience (preferred).
• 3+ years of CI/CD, IaC, and automated testing experience (preferred).
• 3+ years of Git-based version control experience (Git, GitHub, Bitbucket) (preferred).
• 1+ year of observability and performance optimization in cloud environments (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across distributed microservices and full-stack systems to meet regulatory needs.
• Utilize Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript; use Docker and Kubernetes; work with AWS tools and services.
• Collaborate with product managers to deliver cloud-based solutions for millions of users.
• Define service boundaries and reusable frameworks with architects.
• Establish engineering standards for design, development and operational excellence.
• Identify areas for improvement and reduce technical debt through refactoring.
• Engage in internal and external tech communities and mentor engineers.
• Influence long-term technology strategy in a 'you build it, you own it' environment.
