ZipStaff Inc. is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer (Java/Angular) to join our DC-based team onsite for an 11-month W2 contract.

You will build backend Spring Boot microservices, Kafka pipelines, and PostgreSQL data models, while delivering Angular UI features and ensuring secure, scalable deployments. The role emphasizes 75-80% backend with distributed architecture and 20-25% frontend, using Java 17/21, Spring, Kafka, AWS, and modern frontend tooling.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production backend engineering with secondary modern front-end focus.
• Deep Java 17/21, Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data and PostgreSQL.
• Event-driven systems with Apache Kafka or AWS MSK (DLTs, idempotency, consumer rebalancing).
• Angular (v15+), TypeScript, RxJS and Tailwind, PrimeNG or Angular Material.
• Resilience4j and automated testing with JUnit 5 and Spring Boot Test.
• Docker on AWS with GitHub Actions or CodeBuild.
• Bachelor's in CS or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Spring Boot microservices (Java 17/21) with REST and reactive endpoints.
• Architect Spring Kafka pipelines handling ordering, retries, DLTs, idempotency and schema evolution.
• Model and optimize data with Spring Data JPA, Hibernate and PostgreSQL; build Spring Batch jobs.
• Implement Resilience4j patterns and Spring Security, OAuth2, JWT and AWS Secrets Manager.
• Build accessible UI features in Angular (v15+), TypeScript and RxJS.
• Write JUnit 5 and Spring Boot Test suites; contribute to Playwright E2E tests.
• Containerize with Docker and run CI/CD with GitHub Actions and AWS CodeBuild.
• Lead code reviews, mentor developers and support production incidents.

About the Opportunity

ZipStaff is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer (Java / Angular) for our client, a major U.S. passenger rail transportation organization based in Washington, DC. Supporting mission-critical operations applications, your work will be about 75-80% backend distributed architecture (Java 17/21, Spring Boot, Kafka, PostgreSQL) and 20-25% Angular front-end, delivering fault-tolerant microservices, event-driven systems and AWS CI/CD.
