Job summary

Blue Shield of California is seeking a senior Full Stack Engineer to design and deliver mission‑critical healthcare applications, uniting polished UIs with robust backends to improve patient care and clinicians’ workflows.

You will collaborate across product, design, QA, security and platform teams in a hybrid Chicago setting, balancing delivery speed with value. The role emphasizes leadership, continuous learning, and effective communication within regulated environments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of full stack experience.
• BA/BS or equivalent IT experience.
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks (React/Vue/Angular) and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience building backend services and APIs (e.g., .NET/Java/Node/Python).
• Strong knowledge of SQL and/or NoSQL databases and RESTful APIs.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable).
• Experience with containerization (Docker).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, ARM) to provision cloud resources.
• Experience with CI/CD and version control systems (Git).
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver full stack applications in healthcare.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, security and platform teams.
• Own UI, business logic, and data across the stack.
• Support regulated healthcare environments and interoperability standards.
