Job summary

Blue Shield of CA is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to architect mission-critical applications used by clinicians and patients. You will craft polished front-end experiences and scalable backends that improve care delivery and patient outcomes.

This hybrid role emphasizes collaboration with product, design, QA, security, and platform teams, owning UI, logic, and data as a single system while delivering value swiftly.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in full stack development.
• BA/BS or equivalent IT experience.
• Proficiency in modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular or similar) and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience building backend services and APIs using .NET, Java, Node.js, Python, or similar technologies.
• Strong knowledge of SQL (e.g., MS SQL Server, Oracle) and/or NoSQL databases and RESTful integrations.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP acceptable).
• Experience with containerization (Docker).
• Familiarity using Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, ARM, or similar).
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools in professional software development (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, etc.).
• Experience working in regulated environments (healthcare preferred).
• Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards (Epic) preferred.
• End-to-end ownership mindset; UI, logic, and data as a single system.
• Engineering pragmatism balancing architecture with delivery value.
• AI-augmented builder using AI tools with sound engineering judgment.
• Effective collaboration with product, design, QA, security, and platform teams.
• Ability to operate in dynamic environments with shifting priorities.
• Clear communication of technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
