Job summary

Humana in Chicago seeks a Senior Software Engineer to design and deliver high-quality frontend features for care teams and patients, using TypeScript, React, and Next.js. You will own components from design handoff to production deployment, emphasizing accessibility and HIPAA-compliant practices.

You will collaborate with product and design, translate AI capabilities into trustworthy UI patterns, and contribute to a design-system driven workflow, building scalable, patient-centric healthcare

Qualifications

• BS/MS in CS or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong frontend depth.
• Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and React.
• Hands-on experience with Next.js including App Router, SSR/SSG, and server components.
• Ability to build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs and deliver full-stack features independently.
• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards.
• Understanding of sensitive data handling in frontend contexts.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and LLM coding harnesses.

Responsibilities

• Frontend feature development using TypeScript, React, and Next.js for care team members and patients.
• Translate AI capabilities—LLM-generated content, structured summaries, clinical recommendations—into intuitive UI patterns.
• Full-stack delivery: SSR/SSG, API integration, client-side state management; own features end-to-end.
• Contribute to shared component libraries and maintain design-system consistency.
• Ensure interfaces meet WCAG accessibility standards and HIPAA frontend practices.
• Collaborate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and design reviews with engineers, PMs, and designers.
