Job summary

Humana seeks a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design and build platform and API services that connect AI capabilities, data systems, and product frontends. You’ll set security patterns and deployment practices across the team, influencing architecture from API design to operations.

Lead initiatives in API strategy, authentication, and PHI access control while delivering end-to-end features with TypeScript and Next.js for care teams and patients nationwide.

Qualifications

• B.S./M.S. in CS or related field (or equivalent).
• 5+ years of software engineering with backend/platform focus.
• Strong TypeScript or Python for API/service development.
• Proven track record building scalable REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Knowledge of authentication (OAuth2/OIDC) and API security patterns.
• Experience with Next.js and React for full-stack contributions.
• Hands-on with AI-assisted development tools and LLM harnesses.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead core backend services, REST and GraphQL APIs, and service integrations across the AI product stack.
• Establish patterns for authentication, authorization, rate limiting, PHI access, and audit logging with HIPAA in mind.
• Define patterns for integrating AI capabilities into product APIs (LLM routing, streaming, tool orchestration).
• Build observability, logging, monitoring, and alerting for scalable operability.
• Contribute to full-stack feature delivery using TypeScript and Next.js from APIs to UI.
• Drive architecture reviews and define backend engineering standards.
