Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Full-stack Engineer 5 to join the Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering (CORE) Technology division in Richmond, VA. The role focuses on building AI-driven guardrails to automate governance and enable scalable, secure cloud infrastructure across applications.

You will design, implement, and mentor across distributed systems and full-stack platforms using Java, Python, Go, and TypeScript, with Docker/Kubernetes and AWS cloud services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
• At least 6 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Responsibilities

• Shape and advance the technical vision and long-term roadmap for Enterprise Architecture tooling.
• Design and champion enterprise-wide architectural patterns with AI-driven governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance across all Capital One applications.
• Infuse industry trends into our ecosystem—such as event-driven architectures, mesh data topologies, and cloud-native design—ensuring resilience and security.
• Oversee architecture, testing, deployment, and optimization of distributed systems, microservices, and full-stack platforms.
• Maintain deep technical expertise, actively write code, conduct architecture reviews, create PoCs, and evaluate codebases to validate directions.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineering teams, data scientists, and risk/governance partners to build secure fintech solutions for millions of customers.
